Frequently Asked Questions
Who are you and what qualifications do you have?
We are Matthew + Melissa, a husband and wife team. We were recently married ourselves, so we know how it works, and how much time and effort goes into all the important details. We met at uni where we both completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Film & TV Production graduating with distinction. We have shot a handful of weddings together now, and we love it!
What is a highlights video?
A highlights film shows the best of the best… a snapshot of your day including the laughter, tears and raw emotion of your wedding day, from the bridal prep to the dancing. They usually go for 7-10 minutes, which we find is a nice little package to remember your day beautifully.
We have a photographer, why have a videographer too?
Both have important roles, and tell the story differently. A videographer can capture the sounds and images that a photograph cannot, like your vows, and the cheers as you walk down the aisle. Depending on your package, you'll also see and hear the speeches!
I think I look awkward on video, help?
We shoot in the background, observing the day rather than posing, so you don't need to 'act' the day, just live it!
How long will it take to get our video?
We want to provide you with the best possible film, so timing varies between each project and it may take longer during busy periods. We know how much you want to see something from your day, so within one week you will have a 30 second honeymoon highlights film. All film/s should be to you within 4-6 weeks, however this can be longer in peak wedding season.
Why do professional videographers cost so much?
You’re not just paying for the actual film, you’re paying for time and expertise in creating the film itself. A typical wedding will have over 45 hours of work put into it before and after the actual ten hour day, including meetings, travel, setting up, shooting, importing, backup, editing, cropping, colour correcting, exporting. There’s also a lot of equipment required to make the final product, such as the cameras, computers, software and insurance.
So a videographer charging $2,000 for a 10 hour wedding does not mean you are paying them $200/hour.
Are you insured?
Can we request a certain song for our film?
We understand that you may want to use a song, perhaps from your first dance or one that means a lot to you, but unfortunately due to copyright laws we are not legally allowed to use that music. Instead we choose licenced music that we think fits with your style.
What happens if you're sick on the day?
We will contact friends and the Brisbane creative network to shoot the footage for us. All of the footage will then be given to us to edit, to produce the film style that you love.
Do you charge travel fees?
If your Wedding is in Brisbane then that’s all included. If your wedding is over 1 hour from the Brisbane CBD then a small travel fee may apply to cover petrol and potential accommodation.
Can I create my own custom package?
Yes! We find our packages are a good starting point, it can be confusing to know what you want and what to ask for, so start there and then we can create a custom package that suits your budget and requirements. We can add time to your day, create a longer film etc. We are happy to work with you to make a tailored package to truly meet your needs.
Do you make backups of our footage?
Yes! We download your footage to our PC and back it up onto a separate hard drive. Your final films will be saved in multiple locations too, with your highlights film safely online.
We love you, how do we book? Should we meet you?
Yes! We love meeting other couples, and hearing their story. When you first meet with us (we don’t charge anything for this) we will discuss what you’re looking for and if we're right for you.
Ready to book? We require a non-refundable $200 booking deposit to secure your date, plus a signed contract which we will go over with you. You can choose your package later. The remainder is due one week prior to your wedding day.
